Simon Katich Press Conference on Australian Cricket Selectors

The Mad Chatter - Friday, June 10, 2011

Today Aussie batsmen Simon Katich addressed a packed media conference in Sydney to discuss his feelings and attitude towards Cricket Australia after they did not offer him a contract for 2011-2012 effectively kicking him out of the Australian Test team.

Since he regained his Test berth in May 2008, Katich has scored eight centuries in 33 Tests at an average of 50.48. His 2928 runs in that period is bettered only by England opener Alastair Cook and puts the 35-year-old ahead of players like Sachin Tendulkar, Virendar Sehwag and Jacques Kallis.

I think the selectors got this one 100% wrong and agree with everything Simon Katich said in today's press conference. He was frank, honest, open and up front. Simon Katich handled this like an absolute professional and has called the decision 'absolutely ridiculous'.

You can listen and watch the full press conference below. It goes for 19 minutes and is well worth listening to what he has to say. I give Simon Katich full credit and all the praise for the way he handled himself today.

So what are your thoughts after watching a very honest and frank Simon Katich?
